I love summer...I hate summer!

I'm so conflicted...

Love...

I love summer because I don't have to get up before daylight. The sun doesn't set till 9:30 -10:00 at night. I love to swim...tan. I love to camp. I love to vacation. I love all of the flowers in bloom! I love that it doesn't involve such a strict extra curricular activity schedule. Everything is so carefree! I love going to the park and hiking the trails. I love that strawberries are much cheaper. I love going to water-parks, and outdoor theaters. I love that I don't have to see the "mean girls" and their mommas on a daily basis. I love that I get a break from trying to figure out middle school math!

Hate...

I hate summer because I don't have to get up before daylight...but for some unknown reason my body will not let me sleep past 7 AM! I hate that I have no desire to work whatsoever! My paycheck is suffering. I hate that no matter what room I am in...there are least 2 different pairs of flip flops that Abby has left out. There are at least 3 wadded up bathing suits in Abby's bathroom as we speak. I hate summer, because my house is NEVER clean. No one leaves!  I hate that my daughter has a more active social calendar than me...I am on call 24hr. a day as a constant chauffeur to the pool, movies, girl friend's house, etc... I hate sleeveless shirts, because let's face it...my arms are what they used to be folks! Sorry about this one....I hate family reunions! I swear there is one scheduled every weekend!

I have this love/hate debate every day in my head...but I think in the end...

I'm a sucker for a good Love story! ;)

Still broke...

Abby had her followup visit with her ortho Dr. on Thurs...

She's still broke...

Well, the radiologist report states that there is a "suggestion of new bone formation " on one side of the fracture, but not the other. The ortho Dr. wasn't so sure, but he said he trusted the radiologist opinion.

Her doctor warned us that this type of fracture is very hard to heal. I mean like only 25%. The great news is that she is in no pain whatsoever! He gave her the ok to start resuming normal activity...so she has been swimming everyday since.

The big decision is whether she should continue with cheerleading. I was so aggravated with the doctor, because he would not give a straight answer on anything. He basically left the decision up to us. Let her try it...if she hurts...quit...end of story.

He does have patients that continue on not completely healed, and they do just fine. Then worst case scenario...she has vertebrae fused together. From what the Doc said she cant do anymore injury to herself...it's just a pain issue.

My question was if there are signs of healing should we wait a little longer? Is there a chance it can heal completely? Does she need physical therapy? Are there other things we can try?...????

The Doc kept cutting me off...he annoyed me.

Now..I have daughter that has put years of hard work into cheerleading, and will be devastated if she can no longer cheer.

What to do? What to do?   

Insert scream.....HERE!

**When I talked with Abby about this, I asked her..."Well, we prayed real hard for this bone to heal, and we know God can do anything...so he must want you to do something else other than cheerleading. What do you think he wants you to be doing instead?"

Abby: "I think this is his way of saying don't do BMS cheerleading. He wants me to do TW All Stars...and not have to be around the drama and "mean girls" anymore. They don't put God first, and TW does."

Maybe she has a point...

Times up...

Well...time is up!!!

6 weeks have come and gone...and today is retesting day.

CT-Scan day...

Abby goes in this afternoon for her followup CT scan for her stress fracture. I feel like we have done everything we could to help this little bone heal. Yes, I have had to yell at her a few times through out this "no activity" period, but she has done pretty well.

All we can do now is give it to God. I have prayed continuously that God will touch her and heal her completely. I have to have faith that he has answered my prayers. I have seen firsthand God work miracles ...I know he can handle healing a little stress fracture...all I have to do is ask.

If you read this today...please pray for a complete healing for Abby.

BMS IDOL

 

Abby competed in the talent show at her school. I thought she did an awesome job! She didn't place, but there where some really talented kids! The principal said this was the most talented group of kids the school has ever had! She was excited just to be a part of this group...Yeah...she was disappointed about not placing, but she is over it!

Signs of Summer...

 

It's that time of year again! Those days out of the year where you clean up from the long winter! I love to clean up outside! I love to power wash! There is nothing more satisfying to me than watching all of the dirt, algae, and grime being blasted off from my house. So cool! Dont' let the picture of my hubby power washing fool you...he only did the top part...the part I can't reach. I love power washing...but I hate ladders even more!

 

I also love new mulch...ahhhhh...be still my heart!

 

You know what else is cool?   THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!

     

This is a new addition to our Sundays...THE ICE CREAM TRUCK. It is so hilarious to hear all of the squeals, giggles, and screams coming from all the kids on our street. "THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS COMING!!! THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS COMING!"   It's even more hilarious to see all of our high schoolers (and their boyfriends) lining up with money in hand at the ice cream truck. 

(by the way...that's my big boy at the window of the ice cream truck buying ME my SpongeBob Squarepants popsicle!)   

 

This freckle face is Kiley...one of the neighbor girls. She sure is enjoying her Spiderman ice cream!

"How do you live with him?"

 

Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day...

 

I have been a military girlfriend...then an active duty military wife for the last 17 years. 17 years....Donnie and I were just talking the other night on the phone how long ago that sounds. It doesn't seem like it. It seems like yesterday that I said good-bye to him while he went off to boot camp for the Marine Corps! I can still feel the heartache as I sent him away each time for either a couple weeks, months, even a year....I can still feel the loneliness of living by myself for a year...I can still remember the joy I felt as he stepped off the plane after not seeing him for 7 months. I remember it all....

17 years given to the military...and we are still counting.

That is why it is so hard to have people actually say to me..."How do you live with him?"...."How can you stand the fact that he enlists people into the military?" ..."Doesn't that bother you?"...(yes, people actually say these things to me!) They talk to me like he is the DEVIL. Folks....let me tell you. There are actually good people out there that WANT to serve their country. I know it is hard for some people to believe...but this country is full of young men and women who are willing to be put in harm's way to defend this country. God Bless them all!

To answer the question of ..."How do you live with him?"

Well, sometimes it ain't easy...but only because he leaves rolled up dirty socks all over the house, he pees on the toilet seat, he leaves hair all over the sink, and he snores. It is almost never the fact that he is in the military. When we are somewhere and he is in uniform, nothing fills my heart full of pride, than when someone stops to shake his hand and tell him thank you...or when little boys look up at him like he is the coolest thing in the world.

So... "How do live I with him?" ... "I live with him just fine!"  ...Thank you for asking.

You know at the beginning of the year...I had every intention on blogging more often. I then became super busy with work, Abby's broke, and my house is a disaster. You know...everyday living. Maybe someday I will be more consistent...but not today, or tomorrow either. Maybe next week.

Day 10 of 42...

 

Here is our family room...this is what it has become. We blew up the air mattress this weekend when she had a friend spend the night.  All they could do was watch movies, so we tried to make it comfortable for them. Well...Abby thought the mattress was much better for her back than the couch...so we left it up. This is my family room for the next 6 weeks...well 5 now.

 

This is her main source of entertainment...

 

Our toy poodle Annie is LOVING that someone is permanently laying down!!!

 

AAHH....Abby....I love you so much....you know how I love to lounge! You are my Bestie!

So far so good...she really gave that cell phone a run for it's money though! I don't know if it will make it 6 weeks or not.

2 days and she is already wanting out of the house. I told her I would take her to Walmart and push her in a wheelchair just for a change of scenery. I have never seen a kid more excited to go to walmart. She even reminded me this morning..."Mommy, you are still taking me to Walmart tonight aren't you?"

She doesn't fool me...she wants something. She thinks because she is broke, she will manipulate me into getting her something...like a movie, a Ninendo DS game, a CD. She is so sneaky...so manipulative...so conniving...so cute...so sweet... so broke.

(Sniff) Okay...Okay...you win! What game do you want sweetie?
